In this book, it starts off introducing Miles Halter, who is transferring into a boarding school. This reminds me of all the different schools that I have gone to, and how in some of the schools I was happy to get away from it. Even though the reason that he is switching schools is different then mine, it might turn out good in the end. Once his parents drop him off at school, he talks about how small the bathroom is and how the room looks. One of the parts that I find really interesting about the description of the shower is that it is really tiny and that to me sounds kind of weird because I would think that they would make them a little bigger to fit any person that would use it. After a while he meets his roommate Chip Martin(Colonel). While reading about him, I thought that he would be a great friend to Miles and help him make good choices, however as I keep reading he in my opinion is kind of influencing Miles in a bad way.In my life I have had friends that have encouraged me to do things that got me into trouble. But we learn about how he doesn't really have friends that are nice to him.The significance in this is because in people that don't really have friends will sometimes do anything to get people to like them.So I predict that Miles will be the same and he will get the wrong friends just for the sake of having them/ being liked.
